We were contracted, following a successful tender, to undertake refurbishment works on 20 blocks of flats in Barry on behalf of Vale of Glamorgan Council.
Replacing insulation
These blocks of flats were part brick, part render, with failed Cavity Wall insulation. We were instructed to remove the old cavity wall and insert new insulation, and examine and replace wall ties. We then applied External Wall Insulation to the entire blocks. This greatly improved the appearance of the properties, and their thermal efficiencies. A number of the blocks were also re-roofed, and balconies were re-surfaced and had new railings fitted.
The finish to the properties was chosen as texture, with brick slip features as a soldier course to the windows, as can be seen below. The 8 blocks in Parkland Walk were also re-roofed.
