As the UK’s leading experts in decarb retrofit, Westdale provides a comprehensive suite of home improvements. Artbrick is just one technique we employ to ensure renovated properties are in-keeping with the local architecture.
Our Coventry Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) scheme was recognised at the showcase INCA 2023 Awards event held in Nottingham last Thursday evening.
“The award is a testament to our great site team and we are very grateful for their endeavours which has led to this achievement,” says Adrian Bishop, Managing Director at Westdale Midlands. The SHDF project in Coventry Wave 1, we are told, was one of only 3 projects which finished on time, our other scheme for NBBC being one of the others.
“SHDF funding will lead, en masse, to significant improvements in the quality of life for many, while greatly helping to reduce fuel poverty and creating local jobs. We established our Training Academy in Coventry aimed at bringing through interested candidates who were previously unemployed into the construction industry, and are pleased to shortly be completing our second cohort of trainees” continued Adrian.
As a business we’re urging the government in the autumn statement due next week to commit and fully get behind releasing future Wave funding so we as an industry can keep delivering to meet targets set for net zero. With housing stock in this country often being viewed as one of the worst in Europe, we need to be doing more to meet the need for decent housing for residents, bringing their homes up to better standards, and reducing heating costs for those who struggle to afford them.
This work will in turn improve health conditions by removing dampness and mould from their homes and significant aesthetic improvements which are largely in part thanks to the Artbrick finish which enabled us to replicate the existing brick elevations.
We would like to thank Citizen Housing for giving us the opportunity on Wave 1, and the subsequent Wave 2 project where we are delivering over 1100 properties. We would also like to thank CC Ltd,
Property Tectonics, Gareth Keith Consultants, and our EWI supplier, SPS Envirowall, for their support on Wave 1.
